The Buffalo Sabres are ready for another run at the Stanley's Cup. Playing in the HSBC Arena in downtown Buffalo, the Sabres look to build on 30+ years of successful hockey. The Sabres begin their quest for the Stanley Cup when the first puck drops in October.
Without longtime fan favorites and all-time greats Dominik Hasek and Dave Andreychuk, the Sabres will look to Head Coach Lindy Ruff to lead new stars Chris Drury, Tim Connolly, and Miroslav Satan back to the playoff promised land. Andy Delmore, J.P. Dumont, Curtis Brown, Alexei Zhitnik, and Martin Biron will also be key as the 1999 Sabres set a high standard for this new group by reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for just the second time in team history.
Longtime rivals Toronto Maple Leafs always bring their best game when they cross the border to face the Sabres. Every game against the Division rivals Leafs, Boston Bruins, Ottowa Senators, and Montreal Canadians counts in the ultra-competitive Northeast Division.
Buffalo is the sports city in western New York. The Buffalo Bisons (Dunn Tire Park), a minor league baseball team that traditionally draws a million fans (and outdraws certain Major League teams), keeps people busy in the summer months. For some people, it isn't fall until the Sabres and the Bills (Rich Stadium) begin to play and major pro sports return to western New York.
