2005 ACC Football Championship

The twelve universities that make up the Atlantic Coast Conference are highly rated academically. But as the winners of the Atlantic Division and the Coastal Division square off on the gridiron at Alltel Stadium in their inaugural playoff game, it's football that gets our attention. The 2005 confrontation will pit the Florida State Seminoles against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Both teams have spent much of the regular season on the top ten BCS lists, and the Hokies are still up there as the season wraps up.

Alltel Stadium is the home base for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. Opened in 1995, the facility was upgraded to the tune of $47 million to host Super Bowl XXXIX in February 2005. Alltel is the venue for the NCAA's Gator Bowl, a contest of teams from the ACC and the Big East Conference. It also provides neutral ground for a fearsome football rivalry dating back to 1915, now known as the Georgia-Florida game one year and the Florida-Georgia game the next (formerly, 'The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party').

Clearly this is a part of the world that takes its football and its celebration seriously. Get your ACC Football Championship tickets and be part of the fun!
