The Peach Bowl was first recognized officially as part of the NCAA post-season in 1968. Since 1996, it has carried the name Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and as the event has grown, so have its scholarship and charitable contributions, now totally in the millions of dollars. It is held at the Georgia Dome, which is the home of the National Football League's Atlanta Falcons. As high as a 27-story building with a roof made of fiberglass panels coated in Teflon, the Georgia Dome is holds over 71,500 sports fans, and attendance at the Peach Bowl has maxed out in recent years. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is always a competition between two conferences, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference. Many of football's renowned coaches and star players have participated here--Harris Barton, Dick Bestwick, Randy White, and Jerry Claiborne are all in the Peach Bowl Hall of Fame.
