2006 NCAA South Regional Basketball

As the competition heats up and the field narrows to the Sweet 16, then the Elite 8, the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament happens in four places at once. The 2006 South Regionals take place in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome, with the Georgia Institute of Technology playing host. This year's winner of the NCAA Men's South Regional level will take on the winner of the West Regionals at the Final Four in Indianapolis at the RCA Dome.

In 2006, the Louisiana State University Tigers upset Duke 62-54 to get to the South Regionals, where they beat the University of Texas Longhorns 70-60 in a thrilling overtime match. However, LSU lost to the UCLA Bruins 59-45 in the Final Four round.
