2006 New Mexico Bowl

Congratulations to all the participants in the 2006 New Mexico Bowl, and especially to the Spartans of San Jose State University, for their 20-12 victory over the University of New Mexico Lobos.

Join the crowd at University Stadium in scenic Albuquerque with tickets for the inaugural staging of the New Mexico Bowl! The University of New Mexico Lobos, members of the Mountain West conference, will take on the San Jose State Spartans, who hail from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

SJSU and UNM met frequently in the past, starting in 1956; San Jose State holds the lead in those match-ups, with a record of 10 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. but they haven't met on the gridiron since 1998, and New Mexico, making its fourth bowl appearance in five years, is eager to flatten that record out a bit.
