2006 Poinsettia Bowl

Congratulations to all the participants in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl, and especially to the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University, for their 37-7 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies.

College football fans, time to launch the 2006-07 bowl season with Poinsettia Bowl tickets. This opening event pits the TCU Horned Frogs against the Northern Illinois Huskies. Texas Christian University is part of the Mountain West while NIU represents the Mid-American Conference. The Huskies will be at their second post-season game in three years; TCU has played in bowl games eight of the last nine years. Whether you’re cheering for the Dogs or the Frogs, don’t miss the Poinsettia Bowl!

People in San Diego, California, have enjoyed their post-season football bowl game so much that in 2005 they decided to add another one, the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. It is held at Qualcomm Stadium, home to the NFL's San Diego Chargers, and site of Super Bowls, MLB All-Star Games, two World Series, countless concerts and motorsports events, and the well-established Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, which will feature California or the Pac 10 playing Texas A&M of the Big 12.

A spinoff of the Holiday Bowl, this new tournament was designed as a fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That organization was started in 1980 by a group of Phoenix, Arizona policemen, and now has chapters all across the U.S. and around the world. Their goal is to make wonderful memories for children coping with life-threatening illnesses, so in the Poinsettia Bowl, kids will be a part of the pageantry, singing the national anthem, doing the coin toss, and serving as honorary team captains.

Any excuse can be a good excuse to visit scenic San Diego, famous for its pleasant weather all year round, and that includes December. So get your tickets to attend the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl!
