2006 Meineke Car Care Texas Bowl

Congratulations to all the participants in the 2006 Texas Bowl, and especially to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who capped off their most impressive football season with their first bowl win ever, a 37-10 victory over the Wildcats of Kansas State!

Get your tickets to be part of the inaugural Texas Bowl to be held in Reliant Stadium in Houston. Though the Texas Bowl is brand new, this game features two teams with long gridiron histories: the Kansas State Wildcats’ football program dates back to 1896, while the Rutgers Scarlet Knights’ first football squad was formed in 1869.

Kansas State is returning to a bowl game after two years’ absence. Rutgers, not often thought of as a football powerhouse, surprised the oddsmakers in 2006 with an undefeated streak that lasted most of the season and put them high in the polls. Only a triple-overtime loss at West Virginia lowered their rank to #16 and closed the Scarlet Knights out of one of the BCS bowls.
