The highly competitive SEC was organized in 1933. It consists of 12 member universities, with stellar athletic histories and traditions as well as a huge fan base. Those teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide in 1992, the Florida Gators in 1996, the Tennessee Volunteers in 1998, and the LSU Tigers in 2003.
