The San Antonio Spurs first came to the NBA in 1976. They were originally members of the ABA (American Basketball Association), and in 1999, the Spurs became the first former ABA team to win a NBA Championship. They have maintained a strong position in the powerful Western Conference year after year, and they are always in the hunt for another Championship.
After coming to San Antonio in 1976, the Spurs won the NBA title in 1999 with the help of the Twin Towers, Tim Duncan and David Robinson -- 2002-03 season was Admiral Robinson's last of his impressive career. Head Coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford have stocked the roster with Rasho Nesterovic and Robert Horry. Tim Duncan, Bruce Bowen, Tony Parker and Emanuel Ginobili return and the Spurs are poised to make another run at the title and probably have the most talented team they ever had in franchise history to date. The AT&T Center hosts all home games for the San Antonio Spurs.
The San Antonio Spurs are looking to repeat last year's Championship run. The Spurs still look to be in good shape. They are still led by point guard Tony Parker and the phenomenal Tim Duncan, and they should have no problem powering the Spurs back into the playoffs. Will Coach of the Year ('03) Gregg Popovich be able to steer his San Antonio Spurs to another NBA Finals? Be sure to find out, and watch a Spurs home game this year at the AT&T Center in beautiful San Antonio after a day on the scenic River Walk.
