Still known to many by its traditional title, the Peach Bowl was first recognized officially as part of the NCAA post-season in 1968. Since 1996, it has carried the transitional name Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and now is officially named solely for its sponsor, Chick-fil-A. As the event has grown, so have its scholarship and charitable contributions, now totaling in the millions of dollars.
It is held at the Georgia Dome, which is the home of the National Football League's Atlanta Falcons. As high as a 27-story building with a roof made of fiberglass panels coated in Teflon, the Georgia Dome holds over 71,500 sports fans, and attendance at the Peach Bowl has maxed out in recent years. Getting Peach Bowl tickets is a goal of football fans from all over the Southeast and beyond, who perennially make it the most highly attended bowl game outside the Bowl Championship Series.
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is always a competition between two conferences, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Traditionally match ups between the ACC and SEC are high scoring and close games. The game is held around the 30th of December to the second of January, with the 2008 edition to take place on Wednesday, December 31st. It is a rare occasion when teams from these two rival conferences get to play each other, so you'll want to get your Peach Bowl tickets soon before they are gone.
