Sometimes doing commercials can pay off. It worked for Bob Uecker, and it worked for Cedric the Entertainer, who has parlayed his klutzy suave manner in beer commercials into household-name status. The result is a burgeoning film career that sells lots of tickets, and a popular standup act that is another ticket-minting operation.
Born Cedric Kyles in 1964, Cedric the Entertainer stands just 5'6' tall, but he has made a huge impression on his fans. A former insurance salesman before his comedic career took off, Cedric can't be mistaken for any other comic, with his fancy hats and his stylish approach to his main target, sexy women.
Since his big television break in 1996 on the Steve Harvey Show as Cedric Jackie Robinson, Cedric the Entertainer has appeared in a number of movies. He did the voices of a bear in Dr. Dolittle 2 and the Rhino in Ice Age. He portrayed Eddie in the successful film Barbershop.
Other credits for this Missouri native include the Detective in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and, in his biggest role to date, Cedric the Entertainer takes over from Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden in The Honeymooners. Cedric has, of course, done numerous specials of his comedy, and if you know his hilarious work, you will be wanting to get tickets to as many shows as you can.
