Alanis Morissette began her career as a child television star in Canada. She soon moved to Los Angeles and began writing her own music in collaboration with producer Glen Ballard. Morissette's first wildly successful musical release was her critically acclaimed third album, Jagged Little Pill, which opened at number one on the Billboard Charts. Songs like 'Isn't It Ironic' and 'You Oughta Know' hit number one and were played on MTV and radio stations worldwide. Alanis grew into a strong live musician, selling out tickets to her shows and wowing audiences with the furious energy of her stage presence.

In 1995 Morissette won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album. Selling millions of copies, her fourth and fifth albums both hit the charts at number one and even won her more Grammy awards. Alanis Morissette's success is attributed to her honest angry lyrics and her appeal to women of all ages. You would be hard-pressed to find a woman who was alive in the 90s who was not a fan of the hit single 'Ironic.'

Over her long career, Alanis Morissette even returned to television on the show Sex in the City and appeared in the film Dogma as the character of God.
