Blue Rodeo History

Blue Rodeo is a Canadian country rock band from Toronto, Ontario.  The band was formed in 1984 by Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Bazil Donovan, and Cleave Anderson.  Anderson has since left the band and after a period of turnover at drummer, the band currently features Glenn Milchern, who has been with the band since 1992.  In 1986, Bobby Wiseman was added on Keyboards; however, the band no longer employs the use of keyboards, instead, opting for Bob Egan who has been with the band since 2000 and plays a number of different instruments.

The band released two albums in the 1980s, starting with Outskirts in 1987, which reached the number 20 spot on the RPM magazine top albums in Canada chart.  1989’s Diamond Mine reached the number two spot on the Canadian country chart, and the number four spot in the Canadian charts.

The band released five albums in the 1990s, Casino, Lost Together, Five Days in July, Nowhere to Here, and Tremolo.  Each of those albums reached the top-ten on the Canadian charts and collectively have been certified platinum thirteen times over in Canada.  Tremolo reached the number one spot on the Canadian country charts.

The 21st century continued to bring success to Blue Rodeo as the band released five more studio albums: The Days in Between, Palace of Gold, Are You Ready, Small Miracles, and The Things We Left Behind.  Two of these albums, The Things We Left Behind, and Palace of Gold were each certified platinum while the other three were each certified gold in Canada.

The band has also released three live albums: 1999’s Just Like a Vacation which peaked at number twenty on the Canadian charts and was certified platinum, Blue Rodeo Live in Stratford, and Blue Road.  The band also released a compilation album entitled Greatest Hits in 2001.  The album peaked at the number seven spot on the Canadian albums chart and was certified platinum twice over.  The band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the Juno Awards of 2012.
