Britney Spears, born in Kentwood, Louisiana, emerged in November 1998 as an instant pop star queen with her debut single "Baby One More Time," which smashed into the American Billboard charts at #1. A few weeks later her debut album of the same title was released and also flew to the top, making her the first ever female artist to have a simultaneous Billboard #1 single and album with a debut release. The impact was mirrored on charts throughout the world, making it quite obvious that Britney had become a pop phenomenon overnight.
Britney's talents were apparent from a young age. She appeared in talent shows and choirs around her hometown and appeared in TV commercials and off-Broadway shows. By age 11 she had graduated to a coveted place in Disney's Mickey Mouse Club. After a couple years on the show, Britney ventured to New York in pursuit of her music career. While there she hooked up with producer Max Martin (Backstreet Boys) and producer Eric Foster White (Whitney Houston) which resulted in her hit debut single and album "Baby One More Time."
Following her massive summer tour across North America, Britney returned to the charts with another smash hit, "(You Drive Me) Crazy." She followed that by sweeping the MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin, where she won all four awards for which she was nominated. They included Best Female Artist, Best Breakthrough Act, Best Pop Act and Best Song for "Baby One More Time."
Her fourth single, "Born To Make You Happy," was released in January 2000 and followed her previous songs to the top of the charts, securing her status as queen pop star. In April 2000, her second album, Oops!...I Did It Again topped charts around the globe, debuting at #1 in the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and 15 other countries worldwide. Its reception stamped the title Oops!...I Did It Again with uncanny appropriateness -- Britney had indeed done it again!
In 2001, the reigning Queen of Teen Pop released a new kind of Britney album. The new songs on an album titled simply Britney reflected the changes in her life as well as her development from a teenage girl to a mature, young woman. Britney's fourth album, Get In The Zone was released November 18th, 2003. The first single from the set is "Me Against The Music," which features Madonna. Upon the release, Britney broke her own record by debuting #1 on the Billboard 200 Album chart. In January 2004, spokesmen for Britney Spears announced a tour schedule of over 25 concerts promoting the album. Britney Spears concerts are always incredible experiences for fans.
