Brooks & Dunn History

Tickets to Brooks and Dunn are tickets to see one of the most successful country duos ever. On May 12, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Leon Eric "Kix" Brooks III was born. He worked the club circuit in Maine and Alaska before heading to Nashville in 1979. Ronnie Gene Dunn was born in Coleman, Texas, June 1, 1953, and studied theology at Abilene (Texas) Christian College before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was there he fronted the house band at a popular nightspot called Duke's Country and later broke into the national spotlight by winning a talent contest sponsored by Marlboro.

Arista Records' Tim DuBois put the two hopefuls together in 1990. "Brand New Man," the duo's first single, shot to number one in 1991, followed by the chart-topping "My Next Broken Heart," "Neon Moon" and "Boot Scootin' Boogie." Their debut album, Brand New Man, has sold more than six million copies since its release.

Throughout the next couple of years they kept themselves on the charts with more number one hits: "She Used to Be Mine," "That Ain't No Way to Go," "Little Miss Honky Tonk" and "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" have all graced the top spot on country charts.

Brooks and Dunn hit the studio again in the following year and produced Hard Workin' Man for release in early 1993. Only two months after release, the album was certified platinum and by the end of the year it had reached double platinum status.
