Buckcherry History

Buckcherry is an American hard rock band.  The band was originally formed by lead vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Keith Nelson, bassist Jonathan Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn in Los Angeles, California.  Brightman and Glenn have since been replaced by Stevie D. on extra guitars, Jimmy “Two Fingers” Ashhurst, and Xavier Muriel on drums and percussion.

The band formed in 1995, and released their eponymous debut in 1999.  The album reached the top spot on the US Heatseekers chart, and peaked at number 74 on the Billboard 200, achieving Gold certification in the process.  Two years later, the band released Time Bomb, which peaked at number 64 on the Billboard 200 and 175 on the UK Top Albums chart.

The band went through a period of tension over the band’s musical direction from late 2001 through 2002 before deciding to go on hiatus.  During the course of this time, singer Josh Todd almost became the lead singer of Velvet Revolver before later being dropped from the project.

The group reformed in 2005, and in 2006, released 15, which was their highest charting and selling album to date.  The album peaked at number 39 on the Billboard 200, number eight on the Rock charts and number two on the Indie charts, receiving platinum certification in the process.  The band joined Motley Crue’s Crue Fest, along with Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M., and Trapt.  Crue Fest was one of the biggest tours the band has embarked on to date.

Two years later, the band released Black Butterfly, the band’s first top-10 album on the Billboard 200.  After Black Butterfly, the band recorded and released Live & Loud 2009, which was recorded on their Canadian tour in Edmonton, Calgary, Medicine Hat and Regina.  The band’s most recent album, 2010’s All Night Long, peaked at the number ten spot on the Billboard 200, and reached the third spot on the US Rock chart.  The band is scheduled to release their sixth album, Confessions, in February of 2013.  The first single from the album, “Gluttony,” was made available in December of 2012, and was met with high critical acclaim.
