Creedence Clearwater Revisited History

As its name suggests, Creedence Clearwater Revisited is a new project associated with the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival. The rhythm section of the original band launched the Revisited project in 1995. They planned to play the old Creedence Clearwater Revival hits for nostalgic fans and music lovers of a new generation. Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford (on drums and bass respectively) never thought the Revisited project would be as popular as it is today. They began playing at private parties, small clubs, and humble venues. Now they're performing at large venues like the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and selling out shows across the country. They have even released a live album titled Recollection.

The group has now performed all over North America, Europe, and Asia. The crowds are full of fans of the original CCR group as well as younger music lovers who have heard the classic songs on the radio and in films. Though the line-up is not exactly the same as the original band, Revisited founders Cook and Clifford took special care to capture and recreate the classic sound and attitude of the original CCR. They did extensive interviews and auditions before choosing Elliot Easton to play lead guitar. Easton gained his performance experience with the new wave band The Cars. Cook noticed that Easton's musical background was very similar to their own and his bluesy rock style fit in perfectly with the sound they were looking for. John Tristao slid into the role of lead singer and Steve Gunner rounded out the band with his multi-instrumental talents.

John Tristao slid into the role of lead singer and Steve Gunner rounded out the band with his multi-instrumental talents.

Cook credits Creedence Clearwater Revisited's success to an excellent rapport between band members and a joy in teamwork. The live album, Recollection, captures those qualities. The album's 22 tracks include classics like "Susie Q", "Born on the Bayou", "Run Through the Jungle", "Bad Mood Rising", and "Who'll Stop the Rain". The album continues to feed the hungry souls of Creedence fans everywhere with new twists on old favorites. The original CCR was always known for giving an explosive live performance and Revisited continues this tradition as well. Fans leave the venues satisfied with the reincarnation of one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

The music isn't the only thing that makes Creedence Clearwater Revisted concerts memorable; the stage presence and outgoing personalities of the band's members also plays a big part in the experience. Cosmo Clifford has always been known for his kindness towards fans. Not one performance goes by where Cosmo does not take time to chat with fans, pose for pictures, and sign autographs for all who desire to own a piece of rock history. Stu Cook gives a dazzling display of talent and charm with his electric bass on stage. He is the backbone of the group and a much-appreciated part of the band. Elliot Easton brings a wild and crazy aura to the stage. His deep love for folk, blues, soul, and rock is evident in his inspired guitar riffs. Steve Gunner amazes fans as he moves from guitar to keyboards, to harmonica, percussion, and taking his turn at the microphone. The versatility of Gunner's talents adds an aspect of awe to every performance. And last but not least, the big voice booming the classic songs is that of John Tristao. He's a big guy anyway you look at him, and his voice matches his appearance. His powerful pipes make sure the fan in the farthest seat gets a taste of a truly spectacular live performance.
