Discovered by bandleader Johnny Otis in 1955, James embarked on a career highlighted by what one critic called "the most incendiary vocal performances" ever recorded, including such hits as "The Wallflower," "Dearest Darling, "Trust in Me," and her classic "At Last!" -- arguably the most beautiful popular ballad of the last forty years.

James is recognized as a major inspiration for such artists as Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, and Gladys Knight, In 1993, Etta James was inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
