Ska music was introduced to Gwen by her brother Eric Stefani. He got her interested in many of the bands playing around Fullerton, California where they grew up. Eventually Eric invited Gwen to be in his band and they became No Doubt. They held together through some hard times and ultimately released Tragic Kingdom. It was their third album, and with hit singles like 'Just a Girl,' 'Spiderwebs,' and 'Don't Speak,' it became wildly successful.
Tragic Kingdom got the band nominated for two Grammys and got to number one on the Billboard charts. Gwen got a lot of press attention for being one of People's 50 most beautiful people and for her relationship with Bush's frontman, Gavin Rossdale. And after No Doubt's album Rock Steady in 2001, Gwen decided to work on a solo album. She changed her music a little bit and worked long and hard to deliver a fine product in her first solo effort.Read the full Gwen Stefani Article
