Josh Groban’s tour in support of 2007’s Noël was one of the hottest concert tours of the year and tickets were hard to find. Don’t miss your chance to see this legendary artist live in 2008!
In 1998, Josh Groban was discovered by world-renowned producer/writer/arranger David Foster, and this began Josh's journey to his label home, the Foster/Warner Bros. joint venture -- 143 Records. Nothing has been the same since.
Groban worked for Foster as a rehearsal singer on a series of high-profile events, including the inauguration of Gray Davis as governor of California and the Grammy Awards (at which he rehearsed Foster's "The Prayer" with Celine Dion in place of Andrea Bocelli).
He was accepted into the theater department of Carnegie Mellon College. When Foster booked Groban for yet another music industry party, "that was the beginning of the conflict," says Josh. "I was thrilled to be singing for David, but also excited about attending classes at Carnegie Mellon."
He kept the commitment, however, and it was at the music industry event where a group of Warner Bros. executives told Foster they were interested in signing Groban to a record deal. David responded quickly, and soon after, Josh decided to put school on hold to pursue his singing career.
The two had already selected and recorded songs for the debut album, including "Alla Luce Del Sole," and "Gira Con Me." Foster especially admired Josh's versatility. "I love his natural ability in the pop and rock arena, but I love his sense of classics even more." he said. "He's a true musical force to be reckoned with."
Josh made his recording debut singing "For Always" with Lara Fabian on the soundtrack to A.I., and appeared in the 2001 season finale of the television series Ally McBeal. His debut album, Josh Groban, was released in November 2001. Since then, Groban has become a star. His album went double-platinum, and he had his own PBS special in November 2002. A month later, he performed "To Where You Are" and "The Prayer" with Charlotte Church at the Closing Ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and he joined The Corrs, Ronan Keating, Sting, Lionel Richie and others for a holiday performance at the Vatican in Rome.
In 2002, fans of Josh Groban's music were given a treat with his second album, Live in Concert, which included a DVD as part of the package. Many of fans' favorite songs were on the track list, including the much-beloved song "The Prayer." Adding to his list of albums, Josh Groban released Closer in 2003, which also received acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Because of Groban's television performances, albums, media attention, and, of course, talent, Josh Groban concerts have gained popularity at an amazing rate. By all accounts, Josh Groban puts on a great show every time.
