Born and raised in Los Angeles, Katharine McPhee was introduced to the performing arts at an early age by her mother, who is herself a recognized vocal coach and performer. McPhee pursued acting rather than music throughout most of her career and attained much success in LA theater productions including an Ovation Award nomination for her role in Annie Get Your Gun. Her talents for the stage and a natural singing ability translated easily for the concert stages and television screens of American Idol, and her professionalism and enthusiasm won the adoration of the viewing public.

McPhee’s performances of a range of songs, including Stevie Wonder’s “All In Love Is Fair” and Christina Aguilera’s “The Voice Within” showcased her remarkable passion for performing and her musical talent as a sweet yet powerful vocalist. Her signature interpretations of “I Have Nothing” and “Think” revealed something more than a well-pitched performer and the release of her first single, “Over The Rainbow/My Destiny,” met high demand and reached #12 in the Billboard Hot 100.
