One Republic written by: Underrated One Republic is a popular American pop/alternative rock band. Zach Filkins and Ryan Tedder have formed One Republic in 2003, and afterwards added Brent Kutzle as bass player, Drew Brown as lead guitarist and Eddie Fisher as a drummer. After being discovered through Internet in late 2003, One Republic officially signed with Columbia Records. However, after few misunderstandings and hesitations with their debut album, Columbia Records decided to cancel their deal. Since they had to cancel their deal with Columbia Records, their popularity continued to soar, but they still haven't hit it really big and were forced to perform at rather small venues with smaller amount of audience. But, through sheer power of social media and Internet they were basically rediscovered through Myspace and spotted by Timbaland, one of the leading producers at the time, and signed with his label called Mosley Music Group. Featuring rather anthemic Ryan Tedder's songwriting, they finally hit it mainstream in 2007 with the release of their first single called ''Apologize'' from their debut album titled Dreaming Out Loud. ''Apologize'', which was remixed by Timbaland, was one of the biggest hits of 2007 and ended the year by being number one selling digital single of 2007. Their track peaked at number three on Billboard and remained in top 10 for over 12 weeks. The song was also a major success internationally since it had reached number one in 16 other countries, including Canada and France. Their album quickly reached Platinum.
They have released their second studio album in 2009, which was titled Waking Up. With this album they slightly changed their style sonically and actually included more rock inspired ballads in their album, with various successful tracks, such as ''Secrets'' and ''All the Right Moves''. Their single ''Secrets'' has reached top 10 on Billboard hot 100 and was featured in various popular TV shows in USA, including ''Pretty Little Liars'' and ''Lost''. Their other single called ''All the Right Moves'' was released in late 2009, and was a major success in USA, while peaking at top 10 in 23 countries all over the world.
Their third and latest album is Native which was released in March 2013, is probably their most successful album so far. Their first single from Native was ''If I Lose Myself'' which received generally positive reviews from audience and critics and managed to reach top 10 in more than 30 countries worldwide. But, their most successful and selling single from this album was ''Counting Stars'' which charted in top 5 in more than 40 countries and even received triple platinum in Australia. ''Counting Stars'' is widely regarded as one of the best and most popular songs in 2013. Their third single from the Native album ''Something I Need'' reached top 10 in 11 countries worldwide. Native became their most successful studio album once it reached number 4 on Billboard charts in June 2013. Also, Native has sold in over 500,000 digital and physical copies worldwide and topped charts in more than 20 countries, including Australia and France. They are currently touring throughout multiple colleges in various states in United States, and once they finish USA part of the tour, they will start to tour internationally in 2014.
