Ricardo Arjona was born in Antigua, Guatemala in 1964. Although he exhibited a passion for music at an early age, he pursued different but highly successful careers both as a teacher and as a record-breaking player for the Guatemalan national basketball team. Developing his musical style all the while, Arjona released two records in 1998 and 1990 before reaching commercial success with 1993’s Animal Nocturno, which hit #11 in the Latin Pop charts.
