2009 Widespread Panic

Widespread Panic is not something to be afraid of; they are an amazingly talented Southern rock jam band. They have amassed a very loyal following with their rootsy sound. They add elements of blues and jazz to their melodies and play concerts all over America all the time. The band includes John Bell (vocals), Mike Houser (guitarist), Dave Schools (bassist), Todd Nance (drummer), Domingo 'Sunny' Ortiz (percussionist), and John 'JoJo' Hermann (keyboards). Widespread Panic's music is simpler and less jazzy than bands like the Grateful Dead, and after the release of Space Wrangler they were considered the best jam band out there and had the fans to prove it.

Relentless touring is Widespread Panic's bread and butter. Their live show is the best representation of how inspiring and infectious their melodies are. Widespread Panic takes a song and plays it out as if it is a piece of art, giving it life and depth by jamming out the music wherever it takes them. The rhythms are so contagious they get the audience dancing and singing.

You really have to see them perform to appreciate Widespread Panic. Listening to albums like Night of Joy, Don't Tell the Band, Ain't Life Grand, and Live in the Classic City is fun but not as fulfilling as getting tickets to see them in concert.
