The San Diego Padres had a frustrating 2007 MLB season, ending with a win average of .549 and just barely missing the playoffs. The 2008 season looks bright though, as the Padres filled in the holes in their starting rotation with Randy Wolf and Mark Prior and replaced Mike Cameron with Jim Edmonds. Since they’ll be joining a stellar line up including Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux, star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, and possibly the best pitching duo in the national league in Jake Peavy and Chris Young, the Padres roster is looking better than ever. What they need now is supportive fans cheering them on in the stands, so do your part and get your tickets to see the San Diego Padres at PETCO Park in 2008!
The San Diego Padres were established in 1969 and quickly established themselves as one of the weaker teams in baseball. They had a lock on last place until 1975, when thanks to new All Star and future Hall of Famer Dave Winfield the Padres finally finished higher than 6th. The team struggled to reach .500 until 1984 when led by newly acquired free agents Craig Nettles, Goose Gossage, and Steve Garvey they reached the post season for the first time. After beating the Chicago Cubs in a thrilling 5 game series the Padres lost to the Detroit Tigers in 5 games.
