The Windy City of Chicago, Illinois serves as home to one of the most well-known and iconic professional basketball teams in the history of the sport: the Chicago Bulls. Often noted as one of the most followed teams in the Nationa Basketball Association (NBA) there is no denying the popularity of the Bulls in our world today. They are not only one of the most popular but one of the most successful franchises in the NBA today. During their time as a team, the organization has gone on to win six different championships, with all of these championships taking place during the iconic eight year dynasty of the team, led by Michael Jordan.
In the 1990s, Jordan, along with teammates Steve Kerr, B.J. Armstrong, Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippin, won three different ‘three-peat’ championship runs. Today, these are still some of the most recognized players in the team’s history. During this successful run, the Chicago Bulls became one of the most popular teams in the NBA and continue to be one of the most followed by their fans.
During the team’s history, which started back in 1966, there have been six different players named NBA MVP; this includes both Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose. According to Forbes Magazine, the Bulls are the third most valuable franchise in the NBA; a sentiment that only speaks to the dedication of their fans.
Currently, they play in the Eastern Conference of the NBA in the Central Division. They play their home games in the United Center in Chicago, Illinois; a massive arena known for its special acoustics that create a ‘roaring’ sound as fans cheer. During these home games, spectators can expect to see the stadium decked out in black and red (the team’s official colors) and filled with more than 20,000 fans. The east side of this stadium features its own tribute with a statue of Michael Jordan.
The history is heavily dominated from iconic player, Michael Jordan. However, the current team roster features another NBA MVP in Derrick Rose, who along with teammates like Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich, are looking to take the Chicago Bulls on another successful run as their 2013-2014 season unfolds.
