The Denver Nuggets did pretty well in the 2006-07 season, finishing 2nd place in the tough Northwest Division, but as financial constraints prevent the team from making any big acquisitions for 2007-08, they’ll have to build on the team they already have. The Denver Nuggets were a winning team in the ABA. In 1976, when the ABA went out of business and merged with the NBA, the Denver Nuggets, the San Antonio Spurs, the New Jersey Nets, and the Indiana Pacers all made the switch to the NBA. The Nuggets thrived early on in the NBA history. They posted the second best record in the league their first year, but lost early in the playoffs to the eventual champions, the Portland Trailblazers. The Nuggets experienced much success early on. Led by head coach Larry Brown, the Nuggets were fixtures in the NBA playoffs in the 1970s and in the middle part of the 1980s. As of late, the Nuggets have experienced some difficulties, posting only three winning records between 1988 and 2003.
