Even as we say “Congratulations” to the Dallas Mavericks, who beat the Spurs 4 games to 1 to advance to the Conference Semifinals in the 2009 NBA Playoffs, we want to say a big “Thank you” to the San Antonio Spurs, winners of the Southwest Division, for the great season they had!

Well, it’s probably a safe bet that the San Antonio Spurs didn’t perform as well in the 2007-08 season as their fans had hoped, finishing in 2nd place in the admittedly tough Southwest Division and making it to the Western Conference Finals before being knocked out by the Los Angeles Lakers. On the plus side, the team starts the 2008-09 season with its three superstars, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, still on the roster, and a little something else you might have overlooked. The Spurs have won the NBA Championship four times – and every time, it’s been in an odd year.
