The Buccaneers led the NFL in pass defense in 2007 and were consistently one of the league’s toughest defenses. The defense is stocked with veteran talent that dates from their 2002 Super Bowl team, including Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber. Tampa Bay used the draft to shore up the secondary, adding the speedy Aqib Talib. If the Bucs are going to contend for an NFL playoff spot though, they will have to make strides on offense. The offense is among the oldest in the NFL, with Warrick Dunn (33), Joey Galloway (37) and Jeff Garcia (38) providing a lot of the team’s weapons. The quarterback position remains an open question, Jeff Garcia filling in admirably last season for the injured Chris Simms. Tampa Bay needs immediate productivity from draft pick Dexter Jackson, and some additional offensive magic, to mount a serious threat in the NFC South. Tickets to see the Bucs at Raymond James Stadium always go fast, so don’t wait to get yours and watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in action in 2008!
Some Tampa Bay Buccaneers history: The Buccaneers joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. Former University of Southern California (USC) head coach John McKay was hired to pilot the club, but Tampa Bay's first season was a dismal one. The club became the first team in NFL history to lose all 14 regular-season games, suffering five shutouts and fielding the conference's worst offense and defense. The Buccaneers' losing streak grew to a league-record 26 consecutive games as the club lost the first 12 games of its second season.
