Even as we say “Congratulations” to the Indianapolis Colts, who beat the Jets 30 to 17 to become the AFC representatives in the 2010 Super Bowl, we want to say a big “Thank you” to the New York Jets, who placed 2nd in the harsh AFC East Division, for the awesome season they had!
The New York Jets did well in the beginning of the 2008-09 season, but when quarterback Brett Favre began to falter towards the end of the season, their playoff hopes were dashed and they finished in 3rd place in the AFC East. Determined to turn things around for the 2009-2010 season, Favre was released and head coach Eric Mangini was fired and replaced with Rex Ryan, who’s expected to focus more on defense and take the team in a new direction. Much will depend on the performance of rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez, the 5th overall pick in the 2009 draft, but Kellen Clemens is no slouch, and he’ll be right there to pick up any slack. The Jets defense is in prime form, especially with the additions of Jim Leonhard, Bart Scott and Lito Sheppard, and with Ryan at the helm, that should be enough to get the Jets to the playoffs. This season will be the Jets’ last at Giants Stadium, their home for the past 2 decades, so expect nostalgic fans to fill the stands and tickets to be scarce. Go ahead and secure your New York Jets tickets now and watch all the action live!

In 1969 the Jets, then members of the American Football League (AFL), recorded one of the most dramatic upsets in professional football history, stunning the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. The team was led by head coach Weeb Ewbank, wide receiver Don Maynard, and charismatic quarterback Joe Namath. New York joined the NFL in 1970.
The New York Titans became charter members of the AFL in 1960, naming former quarterback great Sammy Baugh as their first head coach. The team enjoyed modest success during its first eight seasons, finishing second in the Eastern Division three times. In 1963 Weeb Ewbank was named head coach, and the team's name was changed to the Jets because the team's home, Shea Stadium, is located between New York's John F. Kennedy International and La Guardia Airports.
