In the National Hockey League (NHL) today, there are very few teams that have developed a following that can rival that dedicated fan base of the Chicago Blackhawks. Year after year, the team is known throughout the league as one of the most successful teams in professional sports, with one of the biggest fan bases in the country. The history of this team dates back to the beginning of the NHL as they are one of the six original teams to make up this league. During their time as an organization, they have been named the Stanley Cup Champions five different times. Their most recent win came in 2013 when the team came away with the title after competing in the league’s shortened season. For 65 years, they played at the Chicago Stadium until they moved to the United Center in 1994; the ice rink they still call home today. Known for being one of the loudest arenas in all of sports, the United Center was created with unique acoustics in mind to make the ‘roar’ of the crowd seem louder, a feature that is now famous in the world of professional sports. During their home games, fans can expect to hear the Blackhawk’s infamous fight song “Here Come the Hawks” played as the team makes it way to the ice.
