The Los Angeles Kings had a disappointing 2008-09 season, finishing in last place in the Pacific Division, but 2009-10 will be the season where they turn it all around. The majority of the team’s core has grown together through the Kings’ system, and GM Dean Lombardi felt it was finally time to add some veterans, so he picked up defenseman Rob Scuderi and left winger Ryan Smyth. Scuderi really beefs up the blue line, and Smyth is expected to help lead the younger players by example. With a strong goalie in Jonathan Quick, a solid blue line anchored by rookie sensation Drew Doughty, and an impressive forward line in Smyth, Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams, plus plenty of depth, expect the Kings to end their playoff draught this season. If you want to see it all go down live and in person, don’t wait, get your tickets to Staples Center today!
The Kings made their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1993 with a lineup featuring center Wayne Gretzky, defenseman Paul Coffey, and left wing Luc Robitaille. While playing for Los Angeles in 1994, Gretzky, known as The Great One, became the most prolific scorer in NHL history when he broke the record set by forward Gordie Howe for career goals.
