The Maple Leafs continued their rebuilding process this season as they tried to return to the NHL playoffs. They fell short of this goal, ending with 83 points and a last-place finish in the Northeast Division. Bright spots for the team include the steady performance of Mats Sundin, who broke team records this season to become the Toronto Maple Leafs’ all-time scoring leader. Gutty free agent acquisition Jason Blake also performed admirably – playing every game for the Leafs despite an early-season diagnosis of leukemia. With the character this team displays, we expect a return to NHL glory for the Maple Leafs next season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs finished the 2006-07 season a respectable third place in the Northeast, placing them squarely in the middle of the division, but fans are hoping that changes made in the off season will make the 2007-08 season better than ever. Vesa Toskala was brought in from the San Jose Sharks to assist Andrew Raycroft and 2007 NHL All-Star team member Jason Blake was added to support captain Matt Sundin – but will it be enough? Get your tickets to Air Canada Centre and catch the Toronto Maple Leafs in action for the 2007-2008 season!
