In the year 2000, the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota was finally granted the professional hockey team that they had been waiting for when the Minnesota Wild came to town. The northern city, already known for its love of the sport had been waiting for years to get their own professional hockey team and when the Wild arrived; they were welcomed with open arms by the city of Minneapolis and quickly became the heart of this Minnesota city.
