2008 World Cup Soccer
Congratulations to all the players and teams who participated in soccer's 2006 World Cup, and especially to Italy, who hung on to defeat France 5-3 in a penalty shootout after two hours of regulation play and overtime ended in a 1-1 draw.
The match, held in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, was only the second time the final winner was determined by a shootout; in the previous instance in 1994, Italy lost to Brazil. The 2006 victory marks Italy's 4th World Cup championship.
