Despite this play's name, there is no doubt that 'Doubt' is one of the most spectacular dramas to hit Broadway in a number of years. As the winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play, 'Doubt' comes with its credentials already established. Now that it is rolling along at the Walter Kerr Theatre on West 48th in New York, you can be sure that it is selling a lot of tickets.

Written by John Patrick Shanley, 'Doubt' centers on a Catholic high school in the Bronx, where a female member of the faculty has doubts about the integrity of a male colleague. Since we're not into plot spoilers here, let it suffice to say that the woman has to wrestle with her suspicions and decide whether or not to confront the matters that her colleague seems to raise.
All four of the actors in 'Doubt' have won significant awards for their performances in 'Doubt': Cherry Jones (Best Actress) and Adriane Lenox (Best Featured Actress) won Tonys, while BrĂan F. O'Byrne won the Outer Circle Critics and Drama Desk awards for Best Actor. Heather Goldenhersh rounds out the cast as winner of a Theatre World award for her performance.
With the Tony-winning directorial skills of Doug Hughes, 'Doubt' has earned its position as the most-highly acclaimed drama of the season. When awards combine with word of mouth, it becomes difficult to get tickets to such plays as 'Doubt,' so you should focus on getting your tickets before the odds of doing so become much more doubtful.
