Wicked is a prequel. As the synopsis on its website tells us, 'Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.' Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends wind up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch we thought we knew so well.

Kristin Chenoweth originated the role of Glinda and Idina Menzel created Elphaba. Joel Grey played the Wizard. Broadway's current co-stars, Kate Reinders and Eden Espinosa, honed their interpretation in acclaimed touring productions. Meanwhile touring companies continue to delight audiences across the nation with this fascinating 'back story.'

Wicked - the Untold Story of the Witches of Oz has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.
