As the first Broadway musical ever attempted by Disney, Beauty and the Beast shines. Since its debut on Broadway in 1994 (when it was nominated for nine Tony Awards), Beauty and the Beast has charmed millions of youthful fans and their parents (or children).
Beauty and the Beast is the story of a cold-hearted prince who is turned into an ugly beast by an enchantress until he can win the love of a fair maiden despite his looks. An inventor named Maurice happens by the Beast's castle, and the Beast imprisons him. Belle, Maurice's daughter, offers herself as a hostage in exchange for her father, and the race is on to trick the Beast and Belle into falling in love with each other, in order to break the spell of the enchantress. We won't tell you if they fall in love or not.
Beauty and the Beast has numerous productions going on around the world. On Broadway, the Beast is currently being played by Steve Blanchard, and Belle is played by Anneliese Van Der Pol. The musical has been captivating its audiences for more than ten years, so if you've not seen it, you need to get tickets now. If you have seen it, you know you want tickets to another performance.
