The Woman in White History

The Woman in White is a new musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Chosen as the follow-up to Les Miserables after its 18-year run at the Palace Theater in London, the British production had a perfect setting for this period piece. Now tickets are selling fast for the New York staging of The Woman in White at the Marquis Theatre. Webber's latest project promises to be a breathtaking production of the highest quality.

This production was adapted from a book written in the Victorian period by Wilkie Collins. When The Woman in White was released, it was wildly successful even in modern terms. It was first published as a serial piece in Charles Dickens' own magazine, All Year Round. Dickens himself was one of the story's biggest fans. Collins is considered to be the creator of the murder mystery genre.

Did You Know...

The novel, The Woman in White, has been adapted for the stage and screen many times since its release in 1860. Everyone on this production believes that this will be the richest and most provoking revival yet. As it is a story of mystery and murder, The Woman In White has very deep and pronounced psychological themes, which Charlotte Jones (book), Webber (music), and David Zippel (lyrics) have tried to convey through script and song.

The primary actors in the Broadway production are Michael Ball (Count Fosco), Ron Bohmer (Sir Percival), Adam Brazier (Walter), Angela Christian (Anne), and Jill Paice (Laura). Although they are not the first to have acted this story, this current incarnation of The Woman in White will be true to Collins' original writings. So get your tickets to the new musical, The Woman in White, for an evening of thrill and suspense.
