British rock band Bauhaus took their name from the German word meaning build and used to describe a very popular architectural movement in Germany in the early 1900s. They are widely considered to have been the first Goth band in history. The members of the band before their break-up and since their reformation are Daniel Ash (vocals and guitar) David J (vocals and bass), Kevin Haskins (drums), and lead vocalist Peter Murphy.

They molded many popular kinds of music together to come up with a theatrical, brooding sound that caught the attention of the hungry and emotional music fans of the 80s. Their patented mix of fiery punk, glam rock, and aggressive pop produced a gloomy and cathartic style that is unbelievable when seen live.
