David Cassidy History

From Broadway to the Las Vegas stage, David Cassidy is an extremely well-rounded performer. He is one of the first personalities to be marketed globally, and his fan club exceeds even Elvis's and the Beatles'. His concert tours have set record box office ticket sales in venues across the world.

David Cassidy began his life in the spotlight at a very young age. He was one of the leading actors on ABC's hit show The Partridge Family. His parents, Evelyn Ward and Jack Cassidy, were actors themselves, so it's no wonder David's career started so early.

As lead vocalist with The Partridge Family, David Cassidy had multiple hits that topped the charts. These songs include 'Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted', 'I Woke Up In Love This Morning', 'Breaking Up Is Hard To Do', and 'I Think I Love You'. Before 1970, he had been nominated for several Grammy Awards and had even won a Golden Apple Award. David won acclaim for his solo work as well, with five hit singles, 'Cherish', 'Could It Be Forever', 'How Can I Be Sure', 'Rock Me Baby', and 'Lying to Myself'.

Whenever he toured, whether he was with a group or alone, David Cassidy was followed by sold out audiences. He broke box office records for ticket sales at Melbourne's Cricket Grounds, London's White City Stadium, Houston's Astrodome, and New York's Madison Square Garden. His records have sold over 25 million copies all over the world, and he has been awarded with eighteen gold and platinum records including four consecutive multi-platinum awards.

Even with all this touring and fame, David still continued to pursue his acting career. He won an Emmy for his performance in 'Police Story', and David appeared on Broadway in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Success found him again in London's West End, acting alongside Sir Laurence Olivier in 'Time'.

In 1996, David Cassidy decided to leave Broadway and move to Las Vegas. His first show opened at the MGM Grand and won 'Best Production Show' in Las Vegas. David was awarded 'Best All Around Performer' and 'Best Singer'. In 1999, David was again named Best All Around Performer in the Review Journal's Best of Las Vegas. He was chosen City Life's 'Entertainer of the Year' and was called 'Show Star of the Year' by Gaming Today.

Later that year, David began collaborating with writer/producer Dan Reo. Together they created 'The Rat Pack is Back!' which sold out tickets at the Sahara Hotel and Casino. It won critical acclaim and was soon followed by another Reo and Cassidy production. David Cassidy was not only the co-creator but also the star of 'At the Copa'. Although he had been so successful in Vegas, David decided to leave in 2001 and go back to concert tours.

David Cassidy has performed for audiences all across the world. In 2004, he scheduled several international tour dates as well as a new record deal. Although originally known for his work in 'The Partridge Family', David Cassidy has become a world-renowned actor and singer and has left his mark on the world's stage.
