2008 NHL Playoffs

Congratulations to all the participants in the National Hockey League Playoff series, and especially to the Detroit Red Wings, the 2008 winners of the Stanley Cup! It took six hard-fought games, but the Red Wings finally defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The NHL Playoffs are well underway and already there have been upsets. Last year’s Stanley Cup winners, the Anaheim Ducks, have been knocked out by the Dallas Stars, the Colorado Avalanche has crushed the Minnesota Wild, the Detroit Red Wings have defeated the Nashville Predators and the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames are still battling it out. The Eastern Conference has been just as exciting, with last year’s conference winners the Ottawa Senators being swept 4-0 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Montreal Canadians beating the Boston Bruins, the New York Rangers destroying the New Jersey Devils, while the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers are still dueling it out.
