Jeff Foxworthy was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 6, 1958 and never dreamed of doing comedy as a child. Like his father before him, Jeff worked for IBM in Georgia. On a dare from some friends, he did a few stand-up comedy shows. A few months later he quit his $30,000 a year job to go on the road doing comedy.
As he was from the South, Foxworthy loved making fun of Southern redneck behavior, also known as "a glorious absence of sophistication." However, it was a while before his humor really caught on. For the first six years, Jeff worked 48 weeks every year touring the local comedy circuits. He opened for acts like Garth Brooks, Jay Leno, The Judds, Eddie Rabbit, and Wynton Marsalis. All of his hard work finally began to pay off, and in 1990, Jeff Foxworthy won the American Comedy Award for Best Stand-up Comic.
In 1993, Jeff's first album, You Might Be a Redneck If'¦, was released. It went triple platinum and was number three on the country records charts. It became the highest selling comedy record of all time. His second album, Games Rednecks Play, was even more successful than his debut album, reaching number two on the country album charts. It also received a Grammy nomination in 1996 for Best Comedy Album. His next album, Totally Committed, was also nominated for a Grammy as well as receiving a gold status for sales. Jeff's fourth album, Big Funny, also received a Grammy nomination. In 2004, he released his next album, Have Your Loved Ones Spayed or Neutered. Along with his comedy albums, Foxworthy released a satirical music album in 1994 called Crank It Up: The Music Album.
