Originally hailing from Baltimore, Maryland the psychedelic rock band Animal Collective was formed thanks to the creative minds of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb) and Geologist (Brian Weitz). The group members came together with the goal to form an experimental rock band and one that pushed the boundaries of rock music today. In just a few short years; the group reached their goals and have been showcasing their talents to the world and proving that their non-traditional approach to music is one that fans of all types can appreciate. With unique defining features such as a rotating line up and a sound that has been described as everything from avant-garde to indie rock, freak folk and everything in between; there is no denying that Animal Collective is one of the most innovative groups of their time.

With big name studio albums such as Centipede HZ, Spirt They’re Gone, Spirit THey’ve Vanished, Strawberry Jam and Merriweather Post Pavilion to their name, the multi-talented Animal Collective began making a name for themselves in the world of rock music. They have also released two live albums and created a video DVD of the band as well. While fans of the group and critics alike have been praising the group’s recordings for well over a decade; there is no denying that nothing compares to seeing Animal Collective take the stage live.
