Kid Rock History
Kid Rock was born as Robert James Ritchie in January of 1971, in Romeo, Michigan. Nearly 20 years later his first album, Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast, was released. The album, with songs such as "Yo-Da-Lin in the Valley" and "Pimp of the Nation", was a mix of old-school rap and hardcore rhymes. His next album was Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp, released on Kid Rock's own Top Dog Records label.
In 1998, Devil Without a Cause was released. Number one hits like "Bawitdaba," "Cowboy," and "Only God Knows Why" all came from this album. The album was a collaboration of Kid Rock, Twisted Brown Trucker, and Uncle Kracker.

The album not only hit Platinum, with 1,000,000 records sold, but it hit Diamond, with over 10,000,000 copies of this album sold in less than 5 years. "Wasting Time," a southern-rock song, is the mellowing out track on this album.
2000 saw the release of the single "American Bad Ass," and the album which it was from, The History of Rock. Other fan favorites from this album include "Cold and Empty" and "Prodigal Son." Kid Rock toured throughout 2000 with Metallica on their Summer Sanitarium tour. In January of 2001, Kid Rock won the American Music Award for Favorite Male Pop/Rock. Kid Rock also starred alongside David Spade and Christopher Walken in 2001's hit comedy Joe Dirt.
