Rolling Stones Tickets

By the time the Rolling Stones began calling themselves the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late '60s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the gritty alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had pioneered the hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that has come to define hard rock.

Rolling Stones History

In the world of rock n’ roll, very few bands have had the impact on today’s music industry like the Rolling Stones. Often hailed as one of the most successful and popular rock bands of all time, the English group first came together in 1962. The bands members included Brian Jones, Ian Steward, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman and Mick Jagger on lead vocals. Although there were multiple substitutions in the band’s’ line up, this original group is often seen as the official Rolling Stones lineup. During their more than five decades in the music industry the group has gained international success unlike any other band of their kind.

To date, they have sold more than 200 million albums world wide and gathered fans from all over the planet. They have released 22 different studio albums in the United Kingdom, 24 in the United States, eleven live albums in the UK with an additional live album in the United States. According to the Billboard Hot 100 they are the second most successful group of all time. Their sound has been described as everything from rock, blues, blues rock and more.

However, the Rolling Stones have more than just impressive album sales to their name. The group has inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and they have been ranked by popular consensus has hailed them as the “World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band.” They were named by Rolling Stone magazine in the top five of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Times.”

In 2012, the Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary. In order to celebrate these event, the group released a new hardback book and announced that they would be embarking on a world wide tour. This year, the group released a new song, a HBO documentary, a compilation album, and did several live performances  in honor of this monumental anniversary. The official tour kicked off in November of 2012 and will take the band up close in personal with numerous fans across the globe. Although the tour dates are currently sporadic, the group is planning to announce a more consistent tour schedule later on. After decades of successful global tours the band’s latest tour is expected to be one of the most successful to date as they entertain fans both young and old with some of their biggest hits over the past five decades.
