There is only one "Motor City Madman," of course, and that would be Ted Nugent. Despite his recent move to Texas, Nugent will always be associated with his home state, which is known as much for such rock icons as Nugent and Bob Seger as for the nation's best R&B, via Motown Records. More than 35 years into his legendary career, Ted Nugent is still packing them in at his concerts, which have generated huge ticket sales over the years.

Born in Detroit, Nugent made his way to Chicago before he turned 18, and he created a band called the Amboy Dukes. The name stuck longer than any of the band members, partly because Nugent was the only member who avoided drugs and alcohol. He returned to Detroit before he turned 20 and kept plugging away at the band concept.
Once Nugent went "solo" around 1975, his records began to have some commercial impact, His second solo album, "Free-For-All," featured vocals by Meat Loaf on some songs. The title song from that album, and Nugent's one Top 40 hit, "Cat Scratch Fever" (1977), are arguably the most well-known songs of his huge repertoire.
Later work with Damn Yankees brought Nugent further recognition, as did his vocal support for bow hunting and for the National Rifle Association. Once Nugent had to tear down his house in Jackson, Michigan because mold invaded the walls, there was nothing to keep him from moving to Gun Country, Texas. But he is still performing all over the country, so if you want to see this legend perform, you will have to get your tickets quickly.
