The Killers influences were bands like Duran Duran, The Cure and The Smiths. However, their witty lyrics and gritty stories stand alone as completely fresh and original. They have endured natural disasters like brush fires in California just to get their first album cut. There was even an earthquake that shook up the recording of 'Believe Me, Natalie.'
