Velvet Revolver is a hot hard rock band. The band started with former Guns N Roses bandmates Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. The trio began looking for a lead singer in early 2003. They put an ad in various magazines looking for a singer. It said: Unnamed artist looking for singer-songwriter somewhere in the realm of early Alice Cooper/Steven Tyler, the harder-edged side of McCartney and Lennon. They began performing live on a VH-1 reality show during their search. Dave Kushner of Suicidal Tendencies joined the group as a second guitarist and then Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots was soon selected as the lead singer.
The band recorded 'Set Me Free' for the Hulk movie soundtrack. Their full-length explosive debut Contraband was released soon after. The album addresses legacies, court dates and addictions. Contraband is an update of the 80s Sunset Strip rock classics. It includes new guitar rifts with chorus harmonies closer to dirty Def Leppard. Izzy Stradlin contributed 10 songs to the exciting hard-edged sound. Fans love it!
