There are 14 elite divisions in the Breeders' Cup. The divisions are Classic, Turf, Distaff, Mile, Sprint, Filly and Mare Turf, Juvenile, Juvenile Fillies, Dirt Mile, Juvenile Turf and Filly & Mare Sprint. Three new races were added for the 2008 Breeders’ Cup: Turf Sprint, Juvenile Filly Turf and Dirt Marathon.
